To celebrate International Women’s Day we spoke to Archie to learn a bit more about her and her journey and career
Introducing Archie Camacho, 51 years old, almost 16 years in travel!
A bit about Archie’s career and how her love for travel grew:
I have been providing personalised travel planning for individual, couples, families and groups for over 15 years of experience in the travel industry. I grow my business with referrals from my clients, which I believe is a sign of their satisfaction and confidence in my services. I am a dedicated, reliable, knowledgeable, resourceful and hard working person. Although, I specialise in fares and tours to the Philippines , I also give full service travel solutions to any destination. Building up all the knowledge I've learned over the years, I am committed to delivering exceptional customer service to my clients. I go the extra mile by even offering my clients the ability to call after hours, during weekends, while they are away and might need emergency help, and that extra effort is the reason why a lot of my clients are loyal and still with me. Being an independent travel broker gives me so much flexibility in life and I love it.
Here’s a bit more about Archie:
I am happily married, a mother of 2 adult children and a 14 year old boy who are my joy and delight. During the COVID season, I diversified into financial advising and recently finished a level 5 financial services course in insurance . I was into it for over 2 years while travel was recovering, and when business in the travel industry returned, I went back to my first professional love for travel. I am also a succulent connoisseur, I have hundreds of plants and this number continuously grows. During stressful times at work, I take some time out, go to my garden and find peace and serenity in engaging with my plants. I am naturally hospitable and would love to share my home and garden with family and friends. I have a passion in cooking and serving others by serving my specialty meals and connecting to people through fellowship. When my kids were growing up I only had a limited chance to travel, but now that they are grown up, my husband and I started to do our own adventure by travelling together and exploring places. We enjoy cruising, and this July we will do another cruise discovering the Mediterranean. Other cruises also lined-up are family trips to Japan, Marlborough Sounds, Hawkes Bay to celebrate our 27th year wedding anniversary.
Advice she stands by: Life is short, enjoy life to the fullest while you can.
Archie’s professional achievements and highlights:
Is when I connect with my client not only through business but developing a relationship and gaining some real friendships. Building a working relationship with customers is key to the long-term success of a business, having a strong connection based on trust and communication helps customers feel more secure and connected that can lead to growing customer retention and repeat purchase rate.
Some advice Archie would give to her younger self or to a young woman: Stay beautiful and youthful in all seasons of your life. In everything, there’s a purpose, find that purpose and don’t give up.
Her most memorable travel experience:
In every travel journey, there’s always a highlight for me. Travelling means exploring different cultures, landscapes and experiences. It is an opportunity for me to learn about new places and people while also discovering more about myself. When you travel, you meet new people and experience new things, and embark on all sorts of adventure. You can perhaps even redefine the meaning of life, as I learned and gained information from new places and people, shaping me into the better, more well-rounded person that I am right now. But if I will have to choose a special travel experience would be the biking in San Francisco bridge and crossing the border of USA and Canada to visit the wonderful and spectacular Niagara falls. Those precious experiences were astounding and one of my best holiday so far.
